Beginners Crochet (Diane Stewart)

4 week course on Wednesdays Jan 17th, Jan 24th, Jan 31st and Feb 7th between 2 and 4pm each day.

£60 for four weeks.

Knitting Academy (Dawn Riggs)

The knitting academy workshops aim to take you from being a complete beginner at Part 1, to a competent knitter.

Each stage costs £45 and runs from 10am-4pm

Stage 1 - Tuesday February 6th

In stage 1 you will learn to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. You will learn how to hold your needles to achieve uniform tension and a comfortable knitting position. In addition, you will begin to understand knitting patterns, how to choose your yarn and needles and you will learn garter and stocking stitches.

We will knit with 4mm needles and double knitting wool. You may bring your own needles or purchase in the shop.

Stage 2 - Tuesday February 20th

You will learn simple combinations of knit and purl such as rib stitches and moss stitches. You will learn further pattern abbreviations. In addition, you will be guided on how to spot errors in your knitting and how to correct them, holes, dropped stitches and extra stitches.

You will learn simple increase and decrease methods.

Stage 3 - Tuesday March 6th

You will learn how to make holes for button-holes and simple lace effects, also how to pick up stitches for button bands and neck lines.

In addition, we will discuss yarn thickness and how to check your tension/guage and learn some more pattern abbreviations.

Stage 4 - Tuesday March 20th

Understanding cables, crossed stitches, stitch manipulation including honeycomb and rope stitches.

You may use double knit or aran weight yarn for this class, both of which are available in the shop at a discount of 10% on the day of the workshop. A wrist warmer, cafetiere warmer can be made or the work can be used as squares to form cushions or blankets.

The workshops below each cost £45 and run from 10am-4pm
